Background of the Study
Anemia is a widespread public health issue in Nigeria, particularly among women and children in rural communities (Abdullahi & Musa, 2024). It is primarily caused by iron deficiency, inadequate dietary intake, and infectious diseases (Olawale et al., 2023). Community-based dietary interventions aim to address anemia by promoting iron-rich food consumption, providing supplementation, and educating populations on proper nutrition.
Plateau State has recorded high anemia prevalence due to poor dietary habits, limited access to iron-rich foods, and lack of awareness about nutritional needs. This study assesses the impact of community-based dietary interventions on anemia reduction, examining their effectiveness in improving dietary habits and hemoglobin levels.
Statement of the Problem
Despite efforts to address anemia through public health initiatives, the condition remains prevalent in Plateau State, particularly among vulnerable groups such as pregnant women and children (Aliyu & Ojo, 2024). Many community-based dietary interventions lack proper monitoring and face challenges related to accessibility, awareness, and cultural dietary practices. This study evaluates the effectiveness of these interventions and identifies strategies for improvement.

Scope and Limitations of the Study
This study focuses on community-based dietary interventions targeting anemia in Plateau State. Limitations include differences in dietary practices, potential biases in self-reported nutritional intake, and limited access to medical records for anemia diagnosis.
